Lois Ruth VanTassel
, 93 of Buffalo, MN formerly of Breckenridge, MN passed away on September 24, 2010. The Memorial Service is at Park View Care Center in Buffalo on Thursday, September 30 at 11:00 am. Officiating is Pastor Highland Goodman. The visitation is one hour prior to the funeral service at Park View Care Center. The interment is at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge, MN. The Pallbearers are Barry Hegle, Timothy Hegle, Bryan Hegle, Kirby VanTassel, Todd VanTassel, Jason VanTassel and Dan Larson.
Lois Ruth was born on September 30, 1916 to David and Bessie (Randall) Gunderson in Bryant, SD. She was raised on the family farm with 2 brothers and 4 sisters and attended school in Bryant. After finishing her schooling, Lois remained on the farm to help out for a while. Using her flair with people and a knack for remembering things, she began a good career as a waitress and enjoyed working at various restaurants over the years including Cal’s Diner in Breckenridge. Lois eventually moved to Maple Lake, MN to be closer to her daughter, Marilyn, and began working in Carlson’s Doll Factory. She later retired in Maple Lake.
Lois enjoyed dancing, telling jokes, and singing. She was especially fond of spending time with family and friends including all of her grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Ron) Hegle of Maple Lake, MN; a sister, Audrey (Walt) Dick of Los Angeles, CA; 9 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded by her son, Ronald VanTassel; daughter, Renae VanTassel; brothers, Tyler Gunderson and Orlan Gunderson; sisters, Doris Hinrichs, Gertrude Amundson, and Helen Pagel; grandchild, Kim VanTassel and her parents, David and Bessie (Randall)Gunderson
