Lyle "Lucky" Stanbra

Lyle Everett Stanbra, “Lucky”, 91, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Fergus Falls, MN. His funeral will be at United Methodist Church at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, October 28. Pastor Mark Gronseth will officiate. The visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. The interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge.

Lyle was born in Breckenridge on October 9, 1926, along with his twin brother Lynn, to Harry and Hazel (Zehren) Stanbra. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad before enlisting in the United States Army in 1950. Lyle bravely served his country for two years during the Korean War Conflict in the 2nd Division C-Battery, 12th Field Artillery Battalion. Upon his return, he worked for the Wilkin County Soil Conservation. On April 3, 1971, Lyle was united in marriage to Patricia Ziegelman at the United Methodist Church in Breckenridge. They were blessed with a son, Scott, on September 18, 1972. Pat passed away on December 31, 2006.

Lyle was a well-loved custodian at the Breckenridge High School where his wit and love for pulling pranks made him a favorite among the students and staff.  He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly riding his bike, gardening, and hunting. Lyle was a volunteer firefighter for many years with the Breckenridge Fire Department and was also an avid woodworker, coin collector, and puzzle solver. He cherished his family where laughter, lively conversations, and love highlighted their time together.

Lyle is survived by his son, Scott (Lisa) Stanbra of Alexandria, MN and their children, Brittany, Dayton, Shaunah and Jorden; three sisters, Norma (Don) Anderson of Bemidji, MN, Doris Stanley of Rockwall, TX, and Harriet (Brian) Turner of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hazel; his wife, Patricia; his grandson, Izaac; his brothers, Boyd “Bud” Stanbra, and twin brother Lynn; his sister, Norine Hopper; and his brother-in-law, Dan Stanley.
