Margie was born on June 27, 1934, to Rudolph and Grace (Getz) Briks in Manston Twp, Breckenridge, MN. She was the 2nd oldest of seven children. Growing up in a farming family, Margie helped with jobs on the farm. She attended country school in Rothsay, MN and then attended St. Mary’s Catholic School for her elementary education, graduating from Breckenridge High School. Following her graduation, Margie worked at St. Francis Hospital in the business office. She also worked for Dr. David G. Jaehning’s office in Wahpeton, ND as the business manager. Margie and her sister, Darlene moved to Houston, Texas in 1973. Margie worked for Dr. Herbert Allen at the Nuclear Medicine Labs of Texas and Atomic Energy Industrial Labs of the SW as the office manager for 40 years. Following the death of her sister, Darlene, Margie retired from her job at the age 81 and moved back “home”. She loved sitting in the sun on her patio enjoying her flowers. Margie was very interested in her great nieces schooling and sports, and their visits made her day. She enjoyed shopping and visits to the local casino, always ready to go. After some casino visits, she swore she would never go back there, and then two weeks later, she was ready to go again. Her family looked forward to her annual bingo games at Christmas, where she was always the life of the party. Margie was an avid sports fan, and it was tough on her when her teams would lose. She had season tickets for the Houston Rockets and Houston Oilers teams. Margie and her sister, Darlene, traveled extensively. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, and her strong Catholic faith helped her weather the many storms in her life. Margie was a generous and caring person, and her family was very important to her. When her brother, Don, was in poor health, she faithfully made weekend trips from Houston to Florida to see him and her sister, Darlene, who was caring for him. She enjoyed driving in the area and looking at the crops.
Margie’s family would like to thank Kiffany and Abby Bruechert, and Wanda Seliski for helping Margie achieve her ultimate wish to remain in her home and to Vicki Kielb who brought communion to Margie. Vicki’s visits were truly enjoyed by Margie. These ladies became family to Margie.
Margie is survived by her sisters, Shirley Jean Briks and Beverly Jaehning; brothers, Jim (Marilyn Anderson) Briks, and Jerry (Deborah) Briks, and their children, Nicole, Erika (Jeff) Stafford, and their son, Aiden Stafford, Lindsay (Bryan) Saniti, and their daughters, Sadie and Sydney Saniti; nephews, David Jaehning and his son, David Goran, J.J. (Lisa) Jaehning and their daughter, Ellie Marie, Richard (Amy) Jaehning and their daughters, Adly and Presley, Tim (Brittany) Jaehning and their daughters, Piper, Ava, Finley and Peyton.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Grace Briks; brother, Don; sister, Darlene; and brother-in-law, Gregg Jaehning.
