Marjorie Porter

Marjorie E. Porter, 88 of Breckenridge, MN passed away at St. Francis Nursing Home on March 31, 2011. The funeral is Monday, April 4, 2011at 2:00 pm at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, ND with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Officiating the service is Pastor David Andrews. Interment is at Lakeside Cemetery, Herman, MN (at a later date). Honorary Pallbearers are Patrick Porter, Anthony Porter, Timothy Porter, Mathew Holding Eagle, and Travis Holding Eagle.
Marjorie Elizabeth Porter was born on August 27, 1921 in Alexandria, MN to Andrew and Florence (Rhodes) Porter. She grew up in the Alexandria and Bagley, MN areas. Marjorie was united in marriage to Stanley Porter. They lived in rural Tintah, MN where they made their home for the next 50 years. Stanley preceded her in death in November, 1990. Marjorie then made her home in Breckenridge, MN. In 2009, she moved into St. Francis Nursing Home. She made many new friends there and appreciated the thoughtful and benevolent care from the staff.
Marjorie was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church in Wahpeton, ND, the church sewing group and "Hope" Church Circle. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary #1223 in Moorhead, MN and the Senior Citizens of Breckenridge. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and time spent with her family.
Marjorie is survived by her children Florence McNeill, Apopka, FL; Gloria Wiederich of Tacoma, WA; Karen (Jon Melson) McBride, Minneapolis, MN; Patricia (Ray Bartosh) Porter, Wahpeton, ND; Cheryl Holding Eagle, Wahpeton, ND; Andrew Porter, Tacoma, WA; her son-in-law Darrell Nickolauson, Elk River, MN; her sister Jeanne Bollin, Cedar, MN; her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Florence Porter; her husband Stanley Porter; her daughters Gwendolin Lampson and Genevieve Nickolauson; her son Alex Porter; her siblings Delphine Anderson, Drucilla Sando, Marie Aldrich, Joseph Porter and Louis Porter.
