Mary Jean Marie Muehler

Mary Jean Marie Muehler, lovingly known as “Jeannie,” age 80, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away at St. Francis Home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Services are pending with Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, please check back for updates. 

Jeannie was born on July 3, 1944, in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Robert and Cecelia (Desautel) Marwitz. She spent her early years in Red Lake Falls, until her family relocated to Breckenridge when she was seven. It was in Breckenridge that Jeannie made her first communion and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Church, later graduating from St. Mary’s School and continuing her education at Breckenridge High School.

On June 16, 1962, Jeannie became the wife of Herman Muehler at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND. They established their home in the Breckenridge and Foxhome area before moving to the cities in 1968, returning to Breckenridge in 1970. Jeannie embraced her role at Cal’s Diner and later, after moving to Fergus Falls, she and her husband worked together at Cox Bakery. Her strong work ethic led her to Medallion Kitchens, where she dedicated nearly eight years, before finding fulfillment in her role as a Nursing Assistant at Broen Home from 1985 until her health began to decline.

Jeannie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. Although she experienced the heartache of losing her daughter, Paula Kay Muehler, in infancy, she treasured the time spent with her children and later, her grandchildren. Every moment together was a cherished memory in the making. In quieter moments, Jeannie enjoyed the craft of embroidery, pouring love into every stitch.

Jeannie will be greatly missed by her loving children, Bonnie (Byron) Stelton; grandchildren, Travis (Ashley) Stelton and Josh Stelton; great-grandchildren, Lukas and Kambree Stelton; and brother, Gerald Marwitz.

Preceding Jeannie in death include her infant daughter, Paula Kay Muehler; sons, Mike and Brian Muehler; parents, Robert and Cecelia Marwitz; and sister-in-law, Shirley Marwitz.
