Mavis Buus, 81, of Breckenridge, MN, died January 20, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, MN. Her funeral will be Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 1:30 PM at United Methodist Church in Breckenridge, MN.Officiating will be Pastor Terry Tilton. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, from 12:30 PM-1:30 PM at United Methodist Church, Breckenridge. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge.
Mavis is survived by:Her son: Robert (Dianne) Buus, Apple Valley, MN; Her daughters: Roxine (Gerald) Kellogg, Linnwood, WA; Darlene (Jack) Abrahamson, Thief River Falls, MN; Her 11 grandchildren; Her 21 great-grandchildren; Her brother: Earl Babst (who died January 22, 2005); Her 3 nieces and 1 nephew She was preceded by: Her parents: Erick and Lila Babst;Her husband: John Buus
Mavis was born October 31, 1923, the daughter of Erick and Lila (Shermerhorn) Babst in Rosholt, SD. She grew up near White Rock, SD and attended school at Fairmount, ND. After high school, she worked in Breckenridge, MN at a grocery store. She was united in marriage to John Buus in Fairmount on October 17, 1943. The couple made their home in Breckenridge. For the first 5 years of their marriage, Mavis enjoyed being on the road with John in his truck. She was then a housewife for many years and also worked at NDSCS. John passed away on September 25, 1983. Mavis and her only sibling, Earl Babst died within a 2 days of each other.
Mavis was a member of the United Methodist Church and UMC Women in Breckenridge. She enjoyed crocheting, having coffee with friends and making Dairy Queen runs with her grandchildren.
