Melvin Ellis, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; his children, Shenandoah (Mike) Ellis-Ulmer, Heidi (Troy) Klimek, and Chris (Maddie) Hoffarth; nine cherished grandchildren, Joe, Jackson, Hunter, Speros, Gus, Peyton, Drew, Odie, and Louise; and one treasured great-granddaughter, Giulia; and brother, John Ellis.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Melvin lived a life defined by dedication, resilience, and love. He enjoyed spending his days golfing with friends, tending to his garden, and sharing laughter and stories with those around him. His warmth, loyalty, and easy smile touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His family takes comfort in the lasting memories of his strength, humor, and the joy he found in both the simple and special moments of life.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent in Mel’s honor to the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls or the Ottertail County Humane Society.
