Mildred Margaret Wicklein, 89 of Breckenridge, MN passed away on September 18, 2010 at St. Francis Health Care Campus. The funeral is Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10:30 am. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN. Father Popp will officiate the services. The visitation is one hour prior to the funeral services at the church on Tuesday. Interment is at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Kent, MN
Mildred Wicklein was born on February 28, 1921 in rural Abercrombie, ND to John and Hazel (Owen) Wicklein. She grew up with her 3 brothers and a sister and attended the Abercrombie schools. In her senior year of high school, Mildred and her family moved to Kent, MN and she graduated in 1940 from Breckenridge, MN. Shortly after graduation, Mildred went to work as a nanny in the Twin Cities area. She enjoyed the family she worked for and they paid her well at $30.00 a week. In her 4

year in the Twin Cities, Mildred’s mother had a stroke so she moved back to Kent to take care of her. She became her parents’ caregivers. Mildred was always giving of herself to help others.
Over the years, Mildred had taken care of many children in her daycare all of whom she called ‘family’. She also worked for the railroad serving food in the Dining Car and she worked at the Aber Restaurant. She loved to entertain and would often have people over to celebrate birthdays or holidays. Church was very important to Mildred. She was active in St. Thomas Catholic Church. She loved every kind of animal especially dogs and cats.
Mildred referred to St. Francis Nursing Home as her home and family since 2003. She will be remembered by all for her hardy laugh and her love for people.
Mildred is survived by her brothers Frank Wicklein of Rochester, MN and Peter Wicklein of Elgin, IL and several nieces and nephews. Mildred is preceded by her parents, John and Hazel (Owen) Wicklein her brother John and her sister Barbara.
