Thief River Falls, Minnesota

Nancy Kaye Marinac was born on December 2, 1944, in Hanford, Washington, to Hans and Nellie (Nordling) Stensgaard. She spent her early childhood in Washington before her family returned to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from high school.

Following graduation, Nancy attended Moorhead State College, where she met William “Bill” Marinac. The two were married on October 9, 1965, and began their life together. After living in several communities, they eventually settled in Rochester, Minnesota, where Nancy worked for the Rochester school system. Following Bill’s passing, Nancy returned to Thief River Falls.

Nancy had a special place in her heart for animals. She was a devoted supporter of the Thief River Falls Humane Society, generously giving both her time and financial support. She was also actively involved in fundraising efforts to help animals in need.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her son, Tad (Lisa) Marinac; her granddaughter, Grace Marinac; and her cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Marinac, and her parents, Hans and Nellie Stensgaard.

Nancy’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at HIA Heather’s House Hospice in Fargo, North Dakota, and Oakland Park Nursing Home & Assisted Living Facility in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, for the kindness, care, and support they provided to Nancy and her family.

In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, no viewing or funeral service will be held. A private burial will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Wolverton, Minnesota, where Nancy will be laid to rest alongside her parents.
