Percy "Pete" Porter, 89, of Wahpeton, ND, formerly Tintah, MN, died February 4, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, MN. His funeral will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 2:30 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Breckenridge, MN. Pastor Michael Gustafson will be officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2005, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Nashua, MN.

Pete is survived by:His 3 sons: James (Jean) Porter; Duane (Marcine) Porter; Patrick (Deborah) Porter, all of Tintah, MN; His 10 grandchildren; His 14 great-grandchildren; His sister: Lila Tipton, LaVerne, CA;

Preceded by: His parents: Alex and Jennie Porter; His wife: Alice Porter; His daughter: Donna Shuck; His son in infancy: Michael; His grandson: Jason Porter; His 3 brothers: Stanley, Jack and Clifford; His 3 sisters: Marvel, Clara and Laura

Percy was born June 14, 1915 in Norcross, MN, the son of Alex and Jennie (Rice) Porter. He grew up and attended school in the Norcross area, then worked on the farm with his family. On June 6, 1936, Percy was united in marriage to Alice Lamm at Elbow Lake, MN. They always made their home on the farm near Tintah. Alice preceded him in death on September 9, 1986. Percy continued living on the farm. Their only daughter, Donna, preceded him on March 25, 1975. Donna's sons, Raymond and Merle Shuck, spent much time with Pete and Alice on the farm, and were more like sons to them than grandsons.

Pete enjoyed farming, especially doing chores. He milked cows and had hogs. Pete enjoyed all areas of farm life. His son, Patrick, and wife, Deborah, continue to live on the home farm. Pete moved to St. Catherine's Living Center in February, 1999, where he has since resided.
