Raymond Ellingson

Raymond Ellingson, 94, of Breckenridge, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, Minnesota under the care of St. Francis Home and CHI Hospice. Raymond's service will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at Vertin Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. His service will be at 10:30 AM with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Mark Ellingson will officiate. 

Raymond was born April 27, 1931, on the farm near Doran to Jorgen and Gertrude (Bertram) Ellingson. He attended #42 School "Ellingson School" in Brandrup Township until 8th grade. He farmed with his parents during his teenage years.

Raymond married Shirley Mae Evert on June 1, 1952, at Vukku Lutheran Church, Foxhome, where he is still a member. At this time his parents moved to Deer Lake. Raymond continued farming along with custom crop spraying. He purchased and was the owner operator of a GMC "Crackerbox" leased under Wolverton Day Liner for several years. Later he drove truck for MinnDak Farmers Coop until his retirement. 

Raymond was the wood worker of Riverside Crafters for several years and created farm scenery out of barn wood. He enjoyed farming, trucking, hunting, camping, fishing, restoring tractors, and just being at the farm. 

Raymond is survived by his wife of 73 years, Shirley; his four children, Becci (Dale) Schnaible, Ginny (Ron) Hasbargen, Wayne (Michelle) Ellingson, Paul (Glenda) Ellingson, 10 of his 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Kenny Holt, cousins and nieces and nephews. 

Burial will take place at Vukku Cemetery, Foxhome, MN at 1:30 on May 1, 2026. 

In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials be made to Vukku Cemetery Association.
