Raymond Charles Miranowski, 90, of Kent, MN died Friday, October 4, 2013 at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, MN. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Monday, October 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge with Father Joe Backowski officiating. The visitation will be Sunday, October 6, from 4:00 to 7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. The interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Breckenridge.
Ray was born to Anton and Magdalene (Shweep) Miranowski on December 25, 1922 on the family farm near Kent. He attended country school through the 8th grade. He was united in marriage to Alice Althoff on October 25, 1949 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mooreton, ND. They made their home on the family farm near Kent where side by side they raised their 13 children and farmed the land. It was his belief that hard work and honest sweat are the building blocks of character and this belief helped guide his parenting and molded a strong work ethic.
Ray retired from farming in 1985 and remained on the farm. Ray considered it pure joy to tend his garden and share fruits of his labor. The harvest was used to provide fresh vegetables for the local Carmelite Monastery, the food pantry, and many of their friends and family.
In his spare time, Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Later on, he took time to drive around and look at the crops, have coffee and pie with friends, and of course, take care of his garden. The holidays were very important to him as was spending time with his family.
Ray is survived by his wife Alice of 63 years; his children Tom Miranowski of Breckenridge, MN, Tony (Jeanne) Miranowski of Breckenridge, MN, Joan Jandt of Pelican Rapids, MN, Dale Miranowski of Breckenridge, MN, Dan Miranowski of Bloomington, MN, Allan Miranowski of Kent, MN, Bob (Mary) Miranowski of Breckenridge, MN, Jerry (Lori) Miranowski of Fargo, ND, Connie (Rich) Hunt of Cando, ND, Paul (Tana) Miranowski of Breckenridge, MN, Tim (Dawn) Miranowski of Kent, MN, and Don Miranowski of San Jose, CA; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings Jerome Miranowski of Breckenridge, MN, Angeline Nordick of Breckenridge, MN and Ann Ehlert of Kent, MN.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Magdalene; his son Elmer; his siblings Mark, Lawrence, Marie Beyer, Sister David, and Anastasia Terfehr.
