Dick Mullenix, 92 of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in his home. His funeral service will take place at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour before the service. Pastor Ken Adams will officiate the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND.
Roy Richard (Dick) Mullenix was born in Fairfield, IA, on October 17, 1933, to Augustus and Bessie “Pearl” (Donovan) Mullenix. Dick graduated from Fairfield High School in 1951. On October 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Miller in Fairfield, IA.
Dick was drafted into the US Army in November of 1955, where he served at Fort Knox, KY. He was honorably discharged from the Army in June of 1957. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until November of 1961.
He began his career in 1951, in his hometown of Fairfield, IA, working in the gas division of Iowa Electric Power and Light. He joined Great Plains Natural Gas Company on September 1, 1966, as Town Manager and was present when the first natural gas customers were turned on in both Breckenridge, MN and Wahpeton, ND. He retired from Great Plains in 1995.
Dick was a dedicated member of the United Church of Christ in Wahpeton. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Rotary Club. He will be remembered for having a good sense of humor and always joking around. Dick especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their dogs. Most recently, Teal, who he referred to as “his boy”.
Dick will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Andrea (Bill) Hageman, Rapid City, SD, and Angel (Don) Bremseth, Fergus Falls, MN; grandchildren, Amber (Kenny) Moore, Box Elder, SD, Adam (Katie) Bremseth, New Brighton, MN, Aric (Amy) Hageman, Cheyenne, WY, Ashley (Jeff) Sands, Fergus Falls, MN, and Andrew (Amber) Bremseth, Fergus Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Avery, Aubrey and Ayden Sumner, Alexander, Alivia, Alizabeth and Allie Bremseth, Alan and Austin Hageman, Autumn and Axton Sands, Boyden and Berkley Bremseth. As well as his ex-wife Marilyn Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents; brothers, Asher and Glen; and his sister, MaryEllen Hall.
