Robert James Faulkner

Robert (Bob) James Faulkner passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at the age of 91 at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, Minnesota. 

Bob was born April 26, 1932, in Rothsay, Minnesota to Harry and Jane (Barringer) Faulkner. He grew up west of Rothsay in Manston Township where he worked on the family farm. 

He married Loretta Hansen on June 8, 1957 in Rothsay. They made their home on the Faulkner farmstead where together they managed the family farm and raised their three daughters. In 2019 they moved to Breckenridge, MN, where they resided until Bob’s death. 

Bob had many skills and talents, but he was especially gifted at woodworking and welding. He was often creative, making toys for his grandchildren, a trailer for his mowers, and everything in between. He could fix just about anything, sometimes even before it was broken. He loved farming. He had a special knack for coming out of retirement to help combine for his son-in-law Joel. If he was outdoors, then he was on a tractor, even as he approached his nineties.

Bob was a quiet, humble man who will be remembered by his family and friends for his calm temperament, fix-it mentality, sense of humor, and faith. 

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Jane; brother, Francis; brothers-in-law, Verlin, Harold, and Larry Hansen, and Jerry Peterson; sisters-in-law, Audrey, Ruth and Fern Hansen and Judy Peterson; and great-grandson, Elijah Davis. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years Loretta; three daughters, Nancy (Bill) Davis, Lori Faulkner, and Connie (Joel) Simmer; brothers-in-law, Alvin and Lorin Hansen; sister-in-law, Alice Hansen and Lynn Prom; six grandchildren, Joshua (Lyndsey) Davis, Jacob (Lauren) Davis, and Jordan (Elizabeth) Davis, Zachary (Nicole) Simmer, Lucas Simmer, and Caitlin (Jack) Cvetnic; 12 great-grandchildren; extended family, and friends. 

The family of Robert Faulkner would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Francis Hospital for their kindness and care.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, Minnesota.  There will be a visitation one hour prior.  Burial will be at Hamar Cemetery, Rothsay, MN.  Pastor Randy Whitehead will officiate the service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
