Robert Kassahn, 61, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Wheaton, MN, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007 at his residence in Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Breckenridge, MN with Pastor Carl Berner officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 16, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. Interment will be at a later date in Granite Falls, MN.
Robert is survived by, his daughter, Jessica Kassahn (Donnie Bullis), Tintah, MN; his four grandchildren, Dominic, Kaylee, Amber, Ryan; his step-daughter, Barb (Randy) Bullis, Tintah, MN; his ten siblings, Virginia Fickes, Herman, MN, Jerome (Mary Ann) Kassahn, Rhododendron, OR, Patricia (Ben) Moist, Portland, OR, Raymond (Barb) Kassahn, Pelican Rapids, MN, Dennis Kassahn, Fergus Falls, MN, Darlene (Austin) Holtz, Breckenridge, MN, Marie Prochnow, Wahpeton, ND, Debra Amundson, Detroit Lakes, MN, Lois Stein, Hankinson, ND, Paulette (Dave Jr.) Thoennes, Doran, MN; his many nephews and nieces; and his special friend, Cynthia Davis.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Kassahn; his parents, Otto Kassahn and Lorraine Roser; and his brother in infancy.
Robert Wesley Kassahn was born September 15, 1945 near Graceville, MN, the son of Otto and Lorraine (Thoms) Kassahn. He was raised and educated in Graceville and Wheaton, MN. He then worked for Paul Roser Turkey Farm in Wheaton, and later Schweitzer Flax Straw Plant in Breckenridge.
Robert was married to Doris M. Wirtz on February 2, 1982 in Wheaton. They also lived at Paynesville, Clara City, Maynard, Anoka and Windom, MN. Doris preceded him in death on December 11, 1997. Robert then moved to Round Lake, MN and later to Campbell, MN where he worked at the school. He later moved to Breckenridge, where he has since resided, and been employed at the senior center and the middle school. He has most recently been working for the Daily News.
Robert enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and especially spending time with his daughter and her family.
