Ronald Marvin Thimjon, 84, of Breckenridge, passed away on February 28, 2026. Born on December 29, 1941, in Breckenridge, he was the son of Marvin and Marie Thimjon. He graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1959 and from Concordia College with a degree in Secondary Education - Mathematics in 1963.
A dedicated math teacher for over 40 years, including 32 years in Breckenridge Public Schools, he loved to work with students and inspire them to achieve their goals. He also coached for many years in Breckenridge. Ron was an active member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved fishing, cheering for his many sports teams and spending time with his family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carlene; his three children: Kevin (Karla) Thimjon, Zionsville, IN; Kari Thimjon, Maplewood, MN; and Jennifer (Pete) Moen, Rogers, MN; his seven grandchildren: Connor (Dominique) Thimjon, Tinton Falls, NJ; Morgan (Tyler) Kirkland, Zionsville, IN; Tyler Thimjon, Chicago, IL; Erin Thimjon, Chicago, IL; Tanner Moen, Rogers, MN; Parker Moen, Rogers, MN; and Addison Moen, Rogers, MN; one great grandson, Carson Kirkland, Zionsville, IN; and four siblings: Joanne (Jeff) Dietz, Sun City, AZ; Robert (Joan) Thimjon, Sioux Falls, SD; Julie (Tim) Costello, Richfield, MN; and Steve (Kayla) Thimjon, Goodyear, AZ: and two brothers-in-law: Larry Carivau, Desert Hot Springs, CA; and John Nermoe, Ottertail, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Sharon Carivau and Janet Nermoe.
Visitation will be held at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge on Tuesday, March 10 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. The family kindly requests that memorials be made in Ron’s memory to the Riverside Cemetery.
Ron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
