Sam Wiertzema, Sr. 97, Breckenridge, MN, died May 9, 2006 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge.
Samuel Herman Wiertzema was born April 20, 1909 in George, Iowa, the son of Herman and Grace (Sprock) Wiertzema. He grew up and attended school in Ellsworth, MN, then worked as a farm hand for his uncle. In 1926 he moved to the Doran, MN area, where he had worked during the harvest season.
On November 22, 1928, Sam was united in marriage to Anna Dora Pasch at Rock Rapids, IA. The couple always made their home on the farm near Doran, where Anna was raised. Anna preceded him in death on January 18, 2000. Sam continued living on the farm until April, 2005, when he moved to St. Francis Home.
Sam's loves were farming, gardening, music and going to church.
He is survived by: His 7 children: Larry (Lois) Wiertzema, Breckenridge, MN; Neal (Mary) Wiertzema, Breckenridge, MN; Joyce McCahan, Cando, ND; Ione (James) Christensen, Breckenridge, MN; Sam Jr. (Janet) Wiertzema, Tucson, AZ; Del (Kathy) Wiertzema, Breckenridge, MN; Linda (Mel) Ruohonen, Bradenton, FL; His 19 grandchildren; His 42 great-grandchildren; His 5 great-great grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by: His parents: Herman and Grace Wiertzema; His wife: Anna; His son: Myron; 3 grandchildren;4 great-grandchildren; His brothers: Henry, Edgar, Harry and George; His sisters: Jennie Kruse and Sena Henrichs; His A� brothers: Herman and Garrett Tuin; His A� sister: Grace Hampton; His son-in-law: Cecil McCahan
Visitation:Friday, May 12, 2006, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Valley Christian Assembly Church, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Funeral: Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Valley Christian Assembly, Breckenridge, MN.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge,MN
