Former Aitkin resident, Stephen Richard Uhl, 85, passed away in his sleep April 11, 2011 at St. Catherine's Nursing Home in Wahpeton, ND. At his request, no services are planned.
Steve was born June 22, 1925 to Otto Ernest and Johanna (Staack) Uhl in Jersey City, New Jersey. He served in the Army during World War II as an Infantry Rifleman in Italy. He later worked for the United States Postal Service.
Steve married Anne Marshall April 18, 1953 in Toronto, Canada. He is survived by Anne at home in Breckenridge, MN. Steve is also survived by his four children and their spouses, Andrew and Terri Uhl of Jersey Shore, PA; Brian and Leslie Zaro of Walla Walla, WA; Steve and Vic Keil of Aitkin, MN; and Dan and Khanda Uhl of Iwakuni, Japan; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
