Thomas Morgan, age 59, of Tintah, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services in Elbow Lake, Minnesota. There will be a visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah, MN, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Father Mike Kellogg and Father Andrew Marthaler will be concelebrants. Burial will be at St. Gall's Cemetery in Tintah. Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Thomas Michael Morgan was born on April 25, 1955 to Donald and Mary (Loher) Morgan in Breckenridge. He grew up and attended school in Tintah, graduating from Campbell-Tintah High School in 1973. Following high School, he worked for Brian Keaveny in Virginia Beach, VA, laying underground cable. In 1975, he returned to Tintah, where he worked on the family farm. On June 11, 1977, Tom married the love of his life, Christy Lehman, at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah. The couple continued farming on the homestead and raised their three boys.
Tom was a "precision" farmer, learning his vocation from the best -his father, Donny. Just as his Dad passed on a wealth of farming wisdom to him, Tom enthusiastically shared those skills with the next generation. Aside from farming, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the lake, collecting rocks, and spoiling his grandkids and Billy's dog, Jake. He also liked driving around checking the fields, especially when Christy accompanied him. He could light up a room with his sense of humor and he had a heart of gold that made people aspire to be around him. He was a member of St. Gall's Catholic Church, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the NRA.
Tom is survived by his wife, Christy, of Tintah; two sons, Jesse (Trenna) Morgan, of Waterloo, Iowa, Kristofer (Lonnie) Morgan, and their children, Tristin, Zaina, and Keira, of rural Tintah; one brother, J.P. (Jasmine) Morgan, of Santee, California; his sisters, Candy (Gary) Lochow, of Ashby, MN, Angela (Sky) Howes, of Fargo, ND, and Lisa (Buddy) Tran, of Perham, MN; his father-in-law, Lawrence Lehman, of rural Tintah; his brother-in-law, Jerry (Donelda) Lehman, of Champlin, MN; his sisters-in-law, LeeAnn (Joe) Barnett, of Fergus Falls, MN, and Carla (Dan) Broadland, of Wahpeton, ND; family friend, Cal Courbat, of Nashua, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary Morgan; a son, Billy Lee Morgan; a brother, William Gerard Morgan; and his mother-in-law, Ramona Lehman.
