Marlys Curtis

July 19, 1940 — January 5, 2021

Rothsay, Minnesota

Marlys Ellen (Price) Curtis, 80, of Rothsay, MN, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Foxhome Lutheran Church, Foxhome, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor John Andrews will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.

Marlys was born on July 19, 1940, in Menomonie, WI. Marlys was the eighth of 12 children born to Mary and Walter Price. She grew up in Wisconsin, but life took her to Florida, Missouri, and finally Minnesota. Marlys married Earl Curtis on March 15, 1969, in Lindstrom, MN. When her health and eyesight were still good, she had many interests that included puzzles, reading, fishing, crocheting, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She enjoyed the many years that she and Earl spent time at their lake home.

Although she would never tell you in many words, she greatly loved her family and spending time with both her children and grandchildren; especially during the holidays. Family gatherings were her favorite. Although a country music fan, she did admit to one of her daughters that she had always like Elton John.

Marlys was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Price; sister, Donna Smith; sister, Lois Bowe; sister, Betty Johnson; infant sister, Brenda; parents Mary and Walter Price; in-laws, Beulah and Harry Curtis; and grandson, Joshua Meyer. Special family members that also preceded her were her brother-in-law, Jerome (Eva) Boos; sister-in-law, Donna (Gerald) Price; brothers-in-law, Donald (Betty) Johnson; Dwayne (Lois) Bowe; and Anton Forster; sister-in-law, Gloria; and brother-in-law, Jerome (Gay) Evenson.

Marlys leaves behind her husband, Earl; daughter, Lynette (Bruce) Oren; son, Doyle Channel; daughter, Jill (Kevin) Sackenreuter; son, Chad (Michelle) Curtis; Casey (Stephanie) Curtis; step-sons, Dennis, Russell, Randy, and Ricky Curtis. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
